Garbage toters should not be overfilled; the lid should close securely. Residents should not put dirt, rocks or appliances into the toters. Plastic bags can be deposited in the toters.

Operates recycling, refuse and yard waste collection, and can answer questions or address issues related to the actual pickup of materials.

For information regarding your collection schedule, contact Vacaville Sanitary Service. The office is closed for all major holidays; however, the collection schedule is only affected by Christmas and New Year's Day. During those weeks, all collections on the holiday itself and for the remainder of the work week following it will be one day later. Normal Friday collections will be done on Saturday.

Toters should be placed five feet from each other and any other objects, such as vehicles, mail boxes, trees or lamp posts. Toters should not block the sidewalks.

Streetsweeping is every other week on the day after your regular garbage/recycling collection. Call Vacaville Sanitary Service if you have a question about the schedule for your neighborhood. All cars, basketball hoops and other obstacles should be moved from the streets for efficient sweeping.



Garbage from Vacaville residents is discarded at the Hay Road Landfill. Residents also may self-haul trash to this landfill.

The City of Vacaville has a contract with Vacaville Sanitary Service to provide weekly garbage, recycling, and yardwaste pick-up services. Additionally, street sweeping is provided for our residents every other week. This franchise agreement grants Vacaville Sanitary Service the exclusive right to provide all garbage services for the City of Vacaville. Billing for your garbage service occurs on a quarterly basis with bills being sent out in early April, July, October, & January. Prompt payment is appreciated. Payments may be made by mail by utilizing the enclosed envelope that comes with your bill or payments can be made in person at 1 Town Square Place upstairs from the new Vacaville public library. Additionally, Vacaville Sanitary Service has implemented an automatic bill paying system called "E-Pay". To sign up for this system go to E-Pay

If there are delinquent balances on your account as of March 31st of each year, the amount is placed as a lien against the property to which the service was provided. It is very important that landlords ensure that tenants are paying their garbage bills since it is ultimately their responsibility as the property owner.
